Reuters, Al Jazeera film White Helmets propaganda - Russia

The little boy, Omran Daqneesh, was rescued from the rubble in the aftermath of bombing in a rebel-held district of Aleppo in August 2016. The controversial Syrian Civil Defense group, better known as the White Helmets, soon released harrowing footage of Omran sitting in an ambulance chair, which was then aired to the entire world via Western mainstream media. Omran became known as “Aleppo boy”, whose ordeal was blamed on Russia’s Syrian air campaign.

In this outtake, Russia’s Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova reveals information that would never make it to the Western public – that the likes of Reuters and Al Jazeera take part in exploiting Syria’s war victims, in order to misrepresent their story in sources of mainstream media. Similarly, Russia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at the Baltic Federal University on 6th June 2017, touched on the subject of the information war that is unfolding as it pertains to Russia in global politics.
